The Snuglee Montessori double floor bed is the most spacious bed in our range: a full UK double, kept low to the ground so your child can still get in and out by themselves. It’s the bed to choose if you’d rather buy once than upgrade in a few years.
A standard double means bedding is easy to find in any UK shop, and there’s plenty of room for family bedtime: stories, cuddles and the occasional early-morning visitor. The simple, natural pine design works as well in a teenager’s room as it does in a young child’s. Low side rails, designed for old toddler and young children.
Solid wood lasts far longer than MDF; read why we build with solid pine. Part of our Montessori bed range. Compare all three sizes in our floor bed collection.

Why a Double Floor Bed Frame, Not Just a Mattress on the Floor?
A floor bed keeps the low, independent feel of a mattress on the floor — with a solid frame and slats underneath.
FAQs
A standard UK double mattress, 135 × 190 cm (4ft6). Pick one that fits the frame snugly, with no large gaps around the edges. Mattress not included.
If the room has space, yes. A double gives your child room to spread out, read and play in bed, and it's a size they can keep well into their teenage years, so it's often the most cost-effective choice in the long run.
The frame takes up 200 × 145 cm of floor space, so it suits medium to large children's bedrooms. Allow around 60 cm of clear space along at least one side for easy access.
It's designed for older toddlers and young children, and we recommend it from 4 years. The low side rails help keep bedding in place while your child gets in and out independently.
Yes. Low side rails run around the frame to hold the mattress and bedding in place and give a cosy, secure feel, without stopping your child from climbing in and out.
A double (135 cm wide) offers the most space and lasts the longest. If your child's room is more compact, our small double floor bed (120 cm wide) gives extra room over a single while taking up less floor space.
