Story about us

It all started during the lockdown when I, a mid-level manager in hospitality, suddenly went from being a constantly running problem solver, without whom nothing could progress in the office, to someone sitting in an empty room for days, who nobody needed anymore. The whole world came to a complete stop. After a short episode of intense depression, I decided to find my way to fix myself first and help make the world a better place.

I began by reading everything I could find and listening to every possible podcast about self-development, human nature, and psychology. One day, on the way back from a toy store, I was listening to a podcast about the importance of wood and timber in sustainable buildings. It suddenly hit me that, sooner or later, most of these toys become plastic, polluting our landscapes and our oceans for my generation, the generation after me, and the next generation, and so on for up to 500 years. I thought to myself, this is insane.

I decided to start my own business making wooden toys designed following the principles of the Montessori method. It so happens that my husband’s friend is a high-end furniture maker who creates one-off customized designs. I brainstormed with him my plans and, after considering the initial investments and learning curve this would take, I decided to start with something he could help me with, providing his expertise and support. We came up with designs that are easy to assemble, handcrafted from expensive solid wood, yet offering good value thanks to the design simplicity.

At Snuglee Beds, we specialize in beds inspired by the Montessori method, promoting independence, as well as social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills. You and, most importantly, your loved ones will spend one-third of your life sleeping. For this reason, it is essential that the sleeping environment is free from potentially harmful substances. Therefore, our beds are unpainted to avoid releasing such substances into the sleeping environment.
